Shy
Differently Put, Hiding.
Today I’m going to launch a series of blogposts about spirituality, inspired by a gorgeous new series of photographs by Julie Blake Edison.
Sometimes we lovers of God, and lovers of people, feel shy.
Even then, we’re still beautiful.
Usually I’ll simply write a few words, but for this one I’m going to share a poem about shyness, “Lace.” Originally published in my memoir of spiritual awakening.
Lace
Hold me all in softness.
Let Your breath draw close to me,
O Folder of Rose Petals.
When will I be beauty-filled, with Your sumptuous delicacy?
Let me, so I may
unbind the veil that now covers my eyes.
Confused, I cower, shy
to gaze upon Your face that looks at me.
How you who have crocheted me as a lace
must laugh to watch the untangling of this knot.
