Most Noteworthy: Receiving Such Generosity
Out of all the specialties of Energy Spirituality, my road to Aura HEALING has been especially paved with generosity.
Ironic since I wound up developing such counter-culture methods. To be blunt: actively counter-mainstream methods. Rather than following the systems of any of my teachers. You’ll see.

Time travel with me, Blog-Buddies, back to the New Age Years. Between 1980 and the Shift into the Age of Awakening, so many of us discovered that we were energy sensitive.
What were we to do with that newfound energy sensitivity? For countless millions of us, the answer was clear: Learn to heal people.
Although actually the first skill I learned for Aura HEALING came indirectly.
Ooh, Founding Energy Spirituality Aura HEALING Began “Illegally”
By 1985, how was I doing? According to the “official” version, “I was making significant progress toward Enlightenment.”
After all, I’d begun studying with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1969. (For details, see this memoir of spiritual awakening.) Ever since becoming one of his initiators, I’d taken a ton of advanced trainings. Plus I helped to deliver the TM “Movement” some precedents:
- Leadership for America’s first accredited TM course in a public high school
- Syndicating a newspaper column on meditation. (Probably the only such column in the history of TM.)
- And pioneering the first American TM course for an agency in the federal government.
Nonetheless, personally? I was a hot mess. Even obvious to me!
Although Maharishi forbade his initiators to go to psychologists or take seminars, etc., gack! What was I to do? Something. I had to do something.
Despite it being “Illegal” for a “Governor of the Age of Enlightenment” to sneak around — getting herself much-needed help — almost as if Maharishi was wrong, and meditation alone couldn’t bring me the promised full mental potential. Plus excellent “social behavior.” Deliver peace on earth. And also bring me perfect health — possibly immortality.

Cutting Cords of Attachment
Fortunately, Joanna Lester was part of the TM community. So maybe it was sorta okay if I secretly went to her for some energy healing sessions.
Altogether I had 16 sessions as her client. Each time she would cut a cord of attachment. Each session helped my life improve noticeably.
Sadly, one day Joanna announced that she was moving away. What on earth was I going to do now?
- Due to desperation. Wanting to “work on myself.” And wanting to do the job right.
- Also due to perhaps having some inborn skills as a consciousness engineer.
- Plus, by then, having developed good skills as an aura reader.
- Eureka! Why not dare to make a certain phone call?
Although very scared to make this call, I telephoned Joanna and told her:
“I think I understand the method you use for cutting cords of attachment. Since you’re leaving town, I wonder if you could check if I’m doing it right. Maybe you could also refer your clients to me?”
Generously, Joanna didn’t laugh. In fact, she made a date for me to cut a cord of attachment for her. Then she’d evaluate.
Afterward, she praised my work and agreed. Definitely, I could start hanging out my shingle, using this skill.

Reiki
By 1986, Reiki was all the rage. And it hadn’t yet been corrupted by Diane Stein’s “tell-all” book.
Diane Stein ruined Reiki. If you have any questions about why I’m convinced that’s the case, just ask in the COMMENTS section at my main blog.
During Reiki instruction I loved feeling the energy go through me. Also noticing the change in people’s auras.
Back to the theme of generosity, I’m especially grateful to Beth Gray. Because she wasn’t just an excellent teacher of Reiki Level II. And also because she always treated me with respect. Quite differently from how most TM people treated me.
Hey, at the time, none of us realized we were in a cult. Typically cult members:
- Treat outsiders like gold.
- Treat insiders like garbage.
Most important, my sweet Reiki Master Beth taught me something important about integrity. Particularly integrity for wannabe healers.
Beth’s Unexpected Gift to Any Developer of Energy HEALING Skills
Without rancor, at our last meeting Beth mentioned that Louse Hay had been one of her students. That Beth had shared a system she developed to supplement Reiki II. And a system that Louise plagiarized, publishing it as “Heal Your Body.” Beth had no reason to lie.
“Did she ever pay you? Or even acknowledge you?” I asked.
“No,” Beth said. In her voice I heard a mixture of incredulity, sadness, and outrage. That self-published book became the making of Hay House publishing, the biggest self-help publisher on the planet?
So what was Beth’s gift to me here? A reminder to use standards. To teach with purity. And to always acknowledge my sources.

During those New Age Years, I did a lot more study of Energy Healing. Always intended for my personal life, not professional work. Highlights included:

- Taking loads of workshops with Bill Bauman, Ph.D., until his consciousness lifestyle changed into extreme spiritual addiction.

Summing Up
All these teachers taught me the best they knew: Approaches to healing mind-body-spirit. Altogether different from what I’d develop with Energy Spirituality Energy HEALING.
Most important, these wonderful teachers helped me to set standards as a teacher and practitioner. I’m grateful for how they inspired me to cocreate all the skill sets within Energy Spirituality Aura HEALING. (For perspective, regarding most of the skills at that last link? You won’t find anything like them elsewhere. Not yet.)
