Could This Simple Concept Help You to Chill?

How seriously need you take the threat of Empath Triggers?

Empath Triggers? Have you already heard of this? If so, you might be worrying about it.

Alternatively you can just read this article all the way through.

Either way, very likely, the truths you learn here can totally solve this so-called problem.

Quite possibly, we might even fit in a few laughs.

First of All, What Is an Empath?

As a matter of fact, you have a right to know. Will the answer terrify you? Let’s go multiple choice.

A. Possibly a person with an urgent need to find new ways to worry.

B. Sadly, a person who suffers from the lifelong disability called… Having skin.

C. Simply, somebody with at least one significant gift for directly experiencing what it’s like to be another person.

If you guessed C., welcome to a far easier life.

But Seriously. What If You’re an Empath and You Want to Do Right by Your Talent?

Maybe you’d like to avail yourself of a resource that’s effective and also not weird? Check out my new empath-friendly website. (Especially fun are the videos. You’ll see.)

In general, please know this: I teach real-deal Empath Empowerment®. Widely imitated but not equaled by other empath coaches. Here’s why.

Speaking of other sensitivity experts, Elise Lebeau began to teach empaths shortly after I opened up the field of helping empaths. One thing I like about her? To my knowledge, she has never claimed to teach Empath Empowerment.

Elise Lebeau Also Gets Credit for Originating “Empath Triggers”

And she’s sure got a winner with this concept. At least, it’s useful in terms of attracting interest. Making her own contribution, Elise writes about “Impaired Empaths©.”

In order to see her main article about “What is an Empath Trigger?” click away.

Personally, I’m concerned about this new way for empaths to worry. How tempting it could be as a way for Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) to start worrying too! Frankly, any person, with whatever degree of sensitivity, could read that article and get busy. More specifically, start worrying and then get really-really busy.

Supplying even more busywork than usual, busywork that folks supposedly “need”? Because they’re oh-so-damaged? (Also supposedly.)

What Type of Empath Expert Warns You Against Empath Triggers?

Maybe you’re curious.

Might I suggest? Always consider the source. Such as when an empath teacher claims to help you avoid the “disastrous impact” of Empath Triggers on your social life. Why exactly? Because, “What was supposed to be a fun evening can take a huge toll on us while we listen, feel every bit of their emotional turmoil and try to ‘help’.”

Of course, many people could relate to this description. Including folks who aren’t HSPs or empaths at all. Possibly including a lot of middle schoolers.

  • Yet if you wind up sitting through an unenjoyable Zoom call these days…
  • Or you have a date that isn’t utterly fabulous…
  • In short, on one occasion you don’t manage to score a fun evening…
  • Must you call that a “disaster”?

Anyway, Back to the Source of Empath Triggers and Poor, Impaired Empaths

Mostly, Lebeau is a psychic. Or as she calls it, using today’s more fashionable term, an intuitive.

Academically, she’s earned a M.Sc. degree. Namely, excellent for science, numbers, and logic. At Elise’s website, however, she eschews science totally (far as I can tell). Instead she uses the language of pop psychology. Pretty convincingly, so that if you didn’t look too closely you might consider her a mental health professional.

Isn’t it fascinating how many empath experts do either psychological talk or energy talk? Not just Lebeau, not by a long shot.

Read comments at this Discernment Jamboree for Empaths and you’ll find examples galore.

Meanwhile I Promised You Discernment. And Even Fun.

So here goes.

I’m going to list different dire problems related to Lebeau’s alleged Empath Triggers. If I understand her writing — and correct me if I’m wrong — she writes that “Paying attention to any kind of unusual emotional activation allows you to discover your own empath triggers.”

Thus, she recommends stopping in each of the following situations. And then working on yourself.

Exactly how exotic are any of these following big-scary triggers? (As quoted from Lebeau’s article, of course.) (Afterward I’ll add my interpretation in italics. Speaking of course as an Empath Coach.)

  1. Proximity: Standing close to someone. Oooh, so scary?
  2. Eye Contact: Looking up when someone talks to you. Oooh, so scary?
  3. Physical Touch: A hand shake, a hug, being bumped in a crowd. Oooh, so scary?
  4. Specific People: Your spouse, your child, you co-worker. Oooh, so scary?
  5. Specific Situations: When someone is angry or feeling upset. Oooh, so scary?
  6. Thinking about someone: Even if they’re miles away. Oooh, so scary?

Here’s a thought, Blog-Buddies…

Maybe None of These Six “Triggers” Is Truly Dangerous

In case it helps, here’s Rose Rosetree’s definition of “What is an Empath Trigger?”

It’s anything and everything that happens while you’re awake… provided that you’re detaching from reality.

Simply reading these last two links can help you to come to your (human) senses. And then move back into reality.

In Conclusion

When it comes to self-help for empaths. And for HSPs. And also for anybody else who’s into having a better life…

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

Could that be the case for taking a ton of precautions to avoid Empath Triggers?

Only you can decide.
